Popular Post hartleyj Posted March 17 Popular Post Posted March 17 Red. Been thinking of getting an Emira for a while but a new one wasn't going to get approval from the Finance Committee. However, there are plenty of newish ones around for far less (still a lot of £ though!). After trying the 2.0 and not really enjoying it, I've gone for a V6 in Magma Red. Only picked it up last Thursday and still getting used to it. So far so good. Lotus really make purchase difficult - had to go to Silverstone to test drive the 2.0, and to Bradford for the test of the V6. Then over to Stratton's in Norwich to buy it. Better photos will undoubtably follow, but here's a starter for 10 (Son's AMG E43 in the background...) When I get a better picture I'll change my profile pic. 9 Quote

DeanB Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Looks lovely. The Magma red has really grown on me. Out of curiosity, what was it you didn't like about the 2 litre Hartley? Quote

Well Dean, they said it was touring suspension, but the front end especially felt a bit unsettled. Maybe the tyre pressures were too high (weather was sunny and quite pleasant) So heat might have increased the pressures. The car had just come back from another demo, but I doubt the route could explain high tyre pressures unless they were high beforehand.. And then there was the engine, which whooshed and whizzed while on the drive. When we were sitting chatting in the car after the drive, and with the engine still ticking over, the 'thermal management' as it's been called, was never ending. Don't get me wrong, this was not a test drive passing off as a track day at Silverstone, it was a reasonably gentle and occasionally briskish 15 mile run on country roads. More gentle than brisk. And it didn't sound too interesting compared to the Elise. So there we have it, 3.5 V6 has it in my opinion. Having said that, the V6 isn't exactly sonorous, although I haven't pushed it properly yet. Probably sounds better at 6000 rpm! Quote
LRS7 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Congratulations on the new purchase! Those Elmira’s are getting good value 👍 1 Quote
